Julian Bell

Mr. Bell is Associate Executive Director and CFO for the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University and has held that position since early 1998. In this capacity, Mr. Bell is responsible for financial operations, outpatient clinics, radiation oncology, clinical laboratories, outpatient pharmacy, patient registration, and medical records. Prior to joining The Ohio State University, Mr. Bell served in senior financial and general management positions at Mercy Health Partners including, most recently, CEO of Mercy Medical Associates, a 35-physician multi-specialty group practice. Mr. Bell has also served in senior financial capacities at Central Ohio Medical Group, Mount Carmel East Hospital, Riverside Methodist Hospital and Lawrence County General Hospital. He began his professional career with a public accounting firm performing audits and financial feasibility studies for healthcare clients and subcontract work for a Medicare Intermediary. Mr. Bell is a certified public accountant and holds a master’s degree in Hospital and Health Services Administration from The Ohio State University and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with majors in accounting and economics, from Marshall University.

Mike Caligiuri, MD

Dr. Caligiuri is The John L. Marakas Nationwide Insurance Enterprise Foundation Chair in Cancer Research and also Professor for the Departments of Internal Medicine and Molecular Virology, Immunology, and Medical Genetics at The Ohio State University School of Medicine and Public Health in Columbus, Ohio, USA. Dr. Caligiuri is Director, Division of Hematology and Oncology, and Director at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Caligiuri received his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine in Palo Alto, California. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Caligiuri then completed a fellowship in medical oncology and bone marrow transplantation at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Caligiuri’s research focuses on the biology and therapeutic potential of natural killer cells, biologic response modifiers in lymphoma, and the molecular biology and genetics of leukemia. Dr. Caligiuri has authored or co-authored more than 130 scientific publications. He serves as journal referee for 20 different journals and is on the editorial boards of Blood, Cancer Research, Blood Reviews and Molecular Cancer Therapeutics.

Tom Ludlam, Jr.

Mr. Ludlam is Prologue’s President and Chief Executive Officer, serving in that position since August 2004. Prior to joining Prologue, Mr. Ludlam served in senior general management and commercial positions in the pharmaceutical and related service industries for 25 years. He spent 14 years at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (BMY) – 5 of which were in Europe – holding senior management positions in generic, primary-care, diagnostics businesses and ending his career at BMY as President of The Oncology Therapeutics Network (OTN).

Before joining BMY, Mr. Ludlam spent 6 years at Ciba-GEIGY Pharmaceuticals, first in product management positions and then as President and CEO of Geneva Generics, Inc. Mr. Ludlam began his business career with Procter & Gamble, where he held product management positions in P&G’s Packaged Soap Division. He earned his bachelors degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame in 1979.

David Milenthal

Mr. Milenthal is CEO of The Milenthal Group, a marketing and communications firm focused on a full spectrum of marketing/public affairs issues and initiatives. Mr. Milenthal is also founder and Senior Partner of Ten United, the state of Ohio’s largest general marketing/advertising agency, employing over 200 people. Clients range from Sears Optical and Limited Brands to Anthem Blue Cross-Blue Shield and University Hospitals in Cleveland. Mr. Milenthal is active in statewide political, economic, taxation and education issues and has served as a consultant to both sides of the political aisle. He was the media strategist for the election of Ohio Governor Richard Celeste in 1982 and 1986. Mr. Milenthal is also very active in community-related efforts. He has served as both Board Chair and Campaign Chair of the United Way in Central Ohio. He has also served on the boards of the Ohio Business Roundtable, I Know I Can (which assures all qualified Columbus public school graduates have the ability to obtain the higher education of their choice), the Martin Luther King Center, The Columbus College of Art and Design, The Urban League, Ballet Met Columbus and others. Mr. Milenthal also has a distinguished career serving on corporate boards, including OhioHealth Foundation, Insight Bank and Skybus, a soon-to-be-launched Ohio-based airline.

Dennis J. Smith

Mr. Smith is the Executive Director of the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University. He received his degree in health care from the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio and has been involved in health care for approximately 30 years, as a biomedical electronics specialist, an open-heart perfusionist, a cardiovascular researcher, a physician’s assistant and an administrator. Prior to joining The Ohio State University, Mr. Smith was Vice-President at Grant Medical Center from 1982-88, where he was involved in initiating the Open Heart Program, the Grant Fitness Center, Sport Medicine Grant, the LifeFlight Trauma Program and other health care services. In late 1988, Mr. Smith joined The Ohio State University as Director of Administration for the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. Over the last 18 years, he has provided administrative leadership in coordinating activities related to opening and successfully implementing The Ohio State University’s nationally recognized cancer hospital. Dennis is Chairman of the board for the Alliance of Dedicated Cancer Centers. He also sits on the boards of the American Cancer Society and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. He is also a member of the American College of Health Care Executives.

Carl Spalding

Mr. Spalding is past President and Chief Operating Officer of PAREXEL (2001-05), a publicly-traded, $500 million+ US-based CRO and biopharmaceutical outsourcing company. During his 4-year tenure at PAREXEL, Mr. Spalding oversaw worldwide business operations for strategic business units, administrative functions and quality management for an organization of 5000+ employees in 35 worldwide locations. Prior to joining PAREXEL, Mr. Spalding held senior positions at several healthcare companies, including Cardinal Health (1998-01) as Group President, Healthcare Product Services, Abbott Laboratories/Ross Products Division (1992-98) as VP/General Manager of pediatric products, and Johnson & Johnson (1970-92) in a variety of senior positions, including with the J&J/Merck joint venture, Dental Care and Baby Products. Mr. Spalding began his career at Compton Advertising supporting key Procter & Gamble brands such as Cascade, Duncan Hines and Comet. Mr. Spalding has also served as a Director of Millipore. Mr. Spalding graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing.
