User Support Technician

LOCATION: Columbus, OH

ACCOUNTABILITY
Provide support to internal end-users on issues related to use of computer hardware and software. Identify severity, research causes, and solutions, and provide Level 1 technical support. Obtain assistance from or transfer issues to other IT staff as required for the resolution of issues. Responsible for the setup of computers and related equipment assigned to employees and contractors. Also serves as backup for the Sr. Systems Administrator. May provide after-hours support as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

End-user help desk support, including administration and support of various systems and equipment, including but not limited to:

  • Windows 2000 Active Directory domain
  • VPN solution
  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 mail server
  • Microsoft IIS web servers (both extranet and intranet)
  • RightFax fax server
  • Network switches and routers
  • File shares and network printers
  • Telecom and voice mail server
  • Office equipment support (faxes, copy machines, cell phones)
  • Installation and setup of desktop/laptop equipment and peripherals
  • Installations and setup of servers

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-4 years experience in user support role, including printer administration
  • Industry certification desired (A+, N+, and/or MCP preferred)
  • Demonstrated understanding of the OSI model
  • Good foundational understanding of TCP/IP and other network protocols
  • Active Directory administration experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarity with telecom systems such as Comdial PBX
